Review:

First let me tell you that I knew about Bocacom from on WHT. I was looking for a company that could set up a server ASAP as we had some problems with our own fiber link and it was a holiday. Robin from Bocacom contacted me through a PM and told me they could do it.

I started asking for things that they didn't offer in their regular plans, they agreed to everything (even when I asked for FreeBSD and they didn't include it in their plans at that time).

Ok, let's get to the facts:

SETUP TIME

Simply amazing, same day setup. Jim even had to drive back to the datacenter once to fix a problem with a new server.

SERVERS

Only the best, Dell PowerEdge servers. No desktop PCs disguised as servers like other providers do.

PRICE

Not the cheapest, but very reasonable. If you keep reading through this review you will find out that what they charge is actually less than they should.

TECH SUPPORT

AWESOME, I hate Windows but had to order a Windows 2003 server since some of our customers need to run some windows specific applications. They have always been willing to help me even when they offer unmanaged servers. I requested some more IPs once at 2 a.m. and they assigned those IPs to me in no more than 30 minutes! Also had some network problems once late at night and they contacted me back in a few minutes.

CUSTOMER CARE

The BEST. I've never seen a provider be so understanding with a customer, we had some issues that forced us to delay our payments, they always had time to listen to what I had to say and were kind enough to wait for me until I could solve those issues. Hey what can I say about customer care?... they even care about my personal life

CONNECTIVITY

Even when they don't promote a "ohh so great BGP4 multi-tier1-provider" network, they have a very nice GigE link to Verio. I have always had nice up/download speeds and haven't had downtime (except 2 times, one was a power failure on the Verio side and the other one was a short outage, nothing to worry about), they even credited my account for the downtime caused by the power failure even when it wasn't their fault.

I've had servers with several datacenters that offer BGP4 routing to several providers and when their main link went out, my servers went offline, as sometimes it takes a little bit longer for BGP4 to start routing traffic through another route. So really that "multi-provider BGP4 routing" isn't as good as most providers like to say it is in their websites.

ETA/RESPONSE TIME

There's always a way to reach them, through AIM, trouble tickets, their forums or by phone, and they have always solved any issue in a matter of minutes.

They are not the usual "big shot" provider, I would say that they are a small provider, but that makes them pay more attention to their customers. I hate companies where my account is just a number, where they have so many customers that they don't care if you are unsatisfied, because you are just "another customer". Bocacom really struggles to have their customers satisfied, and I as a customer are more than satisfied with their services.

We host some mission critical sites, I know that some of you are thinking that we should get a server with one of the "well known and self-claimed secure" datacenters, but trust me, our sites are more than safe at Bocacom.

If you are looking for a provider that keeps an eye on your server even when you are not online, so that you can go to bed every night knowing that your server will be ok, then you should give them a try.

Their website address is http://www.bocacom.net and if you sign up with them you will agree with me on everything posted in this review.

Thumbs up to Bocacom, keep up the good work.

P.S. No, they are not paying me to say such nice things.
